IFCA Vision

The national IFCA vision

“Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authorities will lead, champion and manage a sustainable marine environment and inshore fisheries, by successfully securing the right balance between social, environmental and economic benefits to ensure healthy seas, sustainable fisheries and a viable industry.”

The Association vision

"The aim of the A-IFCA is to assist and promote the regional IFCAs to ensure that the authorities develop a leading and effective national role in fisheries and conservation management in line with the IFCA vision"

Success Criteria

Originally from the nationally agreed IFCA vision, seven Success Criteria were developed during 2010; the IFCAs followed these to facilitate delivery of the IFCA vision over the first 4 years.

These success criteria have been re-developed and are in the process of being agreed

There are ongoing challenges and opportunities facing the IFCAs and the Association. These represent an opportunity to work with our delivery partners and stakeholders, to continue to promote the sustainable use of our seas in a way that has not been hitherto possible.
